Red Sox Add To 40-Man Roster
Two former Portland Seadogs and a current Seadog have been added to the Boston Red Sox 40-man roster. That means Anthony Ranaudo, Bryce Brentz and Garin Cecchini are protected from getting picked by other teams in next month's so-called Rule 5 draft.
Ranaudo was 8-4 with a 2.95 ERA with the Seadogs before getting moved up to triple-A Pawtucket. Brentz is an outfielder who played in Portland in 2012 and had an injury plagued year with the Pawsox this year. Cecchini spent the last 66 games of the season with the Seadogs. He is a rising talent at third base.
Here's the Sox 40-man protected list (only 39 at the moment)...
