The Red Sox took their worst beating of the season Friday night when the Baltimore Orioles mashed their way to a 16-3 win. While the Birds pounded out 20 hits, the Sox defense committed five errors.

Not exactly the way they wanted to start 'players weekend' as everyone wore colorful uniforms with nicknames on their backs.

The debacle starts with Rick Porcello. He pitched 4.2 innings giving up 11 runs (only four earned), on nine hits (two of them HRs).

It got so bad that first baseman Mitch Moreland came on a pitched the 9th inning. He gave up two hits but the Orioles did not score.

Meanwhile, the Sox managed just six hits. The biggest was a Xander Bogaerts two-run home run.

The best thing to say about this game - the Yankees lost too, so the standing remain that same.
