The Boston Red Sox won a rain soaked game against the Los Angeles Angels in game one of the series by a score of 5-4.

The Sox jumped out early against Angels starter Jhoulys Chacin with Mookie Betts scoring on a fielder’s choice.  Boston would score again in the fourth with an RBI double and then David Ortiz would launch a solo shot in the fifth to start a big three run inning. Steven Wright would have some struggles locating his fastball in the sixth inning during the heavy rain, and surrendered a grand slam before being relieved.

Boston would pitch four innings of shutout relief after a rain delay to secure the win.  The Sox move their record to 43-36 with the victory and are just four games back of the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.  Game two gets underway at 7:15 p.m. with Hector Santiago facing Clay Buchholz.
