Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, out since July 14 with a severe right ankle sprain, will make a rehab start with Double-A Portland on Monday night.

Rodriguez (11-3 with a 3.44 ERA) is expected to throw four innings against New Hampshire at Hadlock Field, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The Red Sox will wait and see how the lefthander performs before deciding whether or not Rodriguez will need to make another minor league start before rejoining the Red Sox.

He was placed on the disabled list after spraining his right ankle in a collision with Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Gurriel slid head-first into first base as Rodriguez rushed over to cover the bag. Rodriguez jumped over Gurriel but landed awkwardly on his right foot and tumbled to the ground.
