Ricky Jones Competes For A Third Title

Mark Plummer has dominated the Maine golf scene like no player. 13 times he has won the state amateur title. 6 times he has been runner-up. And when they tee it up Tuesday for the 2013 championship, Plummer gets to compete on his home course, the Augusta Country Club in Manchester.

It will be a great field of golfers for Plummer to compete against. Ryan Gay has won the state title three times. Ricky Jones has either won it or finished second five times in the last 10 years. Defending champion Seth Sweet is also in the field.

For history buffs, this is the 17th time Augusta CC has hosted the state amateur tournament. The first one ever played back in 1918 was won by William F. Clapp. The last one was held in 2001 and Mark Plummer won. Three of his 13 state titles have been won at ACC.
