The UMaine women's basketball team had lost 18 consecutive times to the Hartford Hawks... until today. The Bears won a matinee game over the Hawks 60-56.

Ashleigh Roberts and Liz Wood each scored 13 points to lead the Bears. Maine is now 14-11 overall and 8-4 in America East.

Hartford is 9-15 and 6-5.

Coach Richard Barron's team shot just 35% from the field, but turn the ball over just 10 times, hauled down 42 rebounds and scored 22 points in the paint.

The Black Bears had lost to the Hawks 18 times, dating all the way back to 2004.

Now the Bears get to host AE's #1 team, Albany, on Saturday.
