Royals Take Series From Sox

The Kansas City Royals are one of the hottest teams in baseball and proved it by taking 3 of 4 games from the Red Sox over the weekend.James Shields kept Boston in check over 7 innings. He allowed just 2 earned runs on 7 hits and struckout 5 to help KC take the series finale 4-3. Sox starter John Lackey posted similar numbers but couldn't get enough offensive support and took his 10th loss.

Alex Gordon had the hot bat for KC collecting 3 hits including a homer and 2 rbi.

Despite a tough weekend Boston's lead in the AL East remains 3 games over Tampa Bay. The Sox are off Monday and will start a three game series in Toronto on Tuesday.
