Chris Sale matched a career worst by giving up four home runs in a game as the Toronto Blue Jays continue to play spoilers, beating the Red Sox 9-4.

Add in another Yankees win and the lead in the AL East for the Sox is down to three games with five games to play. The magic number to clinch remains three.

Sale simply didn't have his best stuff. Toronto scored five runs in five innings, Sale gave up eight hits and two walks. He did strike out eight to give him 308 for the season.

The race for the Cy Young may be over. Sale is now 17-8 and his ERA goes up to 2.90.

Meanwhile, the limping Sox offense did little until it was too late. J.A. Happ pitched seven innings, giving up just four hits. The Sox scored three runs off the Blue Jays bullpen after it was already 9-1.

Rick Porcello pitches game three tonight vs the Jays then the Houston Astros come to Fenway for the final four games.

The race for the division title continues.
