The Boston Red Sox scored five times in the top of the 1st inning and then turned the game over to Chris Sale for a 6-2 late night west coast win over the LA Angels.

Sale worked the first six innings, not giving up a run. He struck out nine, walked two and scattered four hits.

Sale became just the fourth pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts in 20 or fewer starts. The other three - Pedro, Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson.

He now is 12-4 and leads the American League in ERA at 2.48.

Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr led the Sox in hitting, each with two hits and a RBI.
