Seadogs Prospects Learn The Sox Way

If you want to know which prospects the Boston Red Sox really, really like...you check the list of guys invited to their yearly off season rookie development program scheduled for next week. Six current or former Portland Seadogs are on this year's list.

Pitchers Matt Barnes, Anthony Ranaudo and Henry Owens will be there. Catchers Blake Swihart and Christian Vazquez, plus infielders Garin Cecchini and Deven Marrero.

All of them are either former Portland Seadogs or will start the year at Portland.

The week long program next week educates younger players about life on and off the field as a Boston Red Sox. Many sports teams now run a similar program.

Generally the invitations go to players the Sox organization think will likely make it to the majors.
