Police spent the night engaged in another armed standoff that ended early this morning. Unlike Friday's standoff, where the suspect surrendered without incident, this morning's incident ended when the suspect shot himself.

Kennebec County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Windsor home by relatives of 36-year-old Wayne Bland. They told police that he was suicidal and had already taken some pills. Sheriff's deputies and State Police went to the Route 105 home and, while there, Bland fired several shots. At that point, the State Police Tactical Team was called in.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the standoff ended at around two o'clock this morning when Bland shot himself in the face. He was taken into custody when he then walked outside. During the five hour standoff, Bland had fired over a half dozen shots. No shots were fired by police. McCausland says an elderly relative, who was also in the home, was not hurt. Bland is being treated at MaineGeneral Hospital.
