The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s return to New England will feature not just one, but two title fights at the TD Garden in Boston.

UFC 220, which was announced in November for the TD Garden in Boston, will have two title fights as part of the event in the two biggest weight classes.  The organization headed by Hermon’s Dana White have already announced Daniel Cormier defending his light heavyweight title versus Volkan Oezdemir, but MMAFighting.com has confirmed that heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is also slated for a title defense, facing off against up-and-comer Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou just finished heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 in Detroit over the past weekend with a 1st round knockout.  Miocic has not competed since defeating Junior Dos Santos in May.  The Cleveland native has made two successful title defenses since winning the belt in a fight versus Fabricio Werdum in Brazil in May of 2016.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the public next week, though the UFC has not formally announced the heavyweight title fight.  The UFC has not been in New England since January of 2016 and was last in Maine at Bangor for a Fight Night card back in 2014.
