The UMaine women's basketball team is competing in the Navy Classic Tournament in Annapolis, Maryland and the Black Bears are playing shorthanded because of injuries. But, they found a way to beat North Carolina A&T 58-52 in day one of the tourney.

Maddie McVicar (Calais HS) made her first start of her career and contributed six points, five rebounds,, four assists and two steals.

Tanesha Sutton led UMaine in scoring with 17. Blanca Millan added 13 and Parise Rossignol had 10.

There were 15 lead changes in this one.

With the game tied at 47-47 and seven minutes to go, the Black Bears would go on to outscore A&T 11-5.

Maine improves to 3-2 and will play Penn Sunday afternoon at the Navy Classic.

North Carolina A&T drops to 1-4.
