Smith Strikes Out 12, Coyotes Beat Hawks
Old Town's McKenna Smith and Hermon's Alex Applebee put on great pitching performances to help get their teams a win Tuesday afternoon.
Smith struck out 12 Hermon Hawks in a 4-1 victory. Smith gave up just three hits, one run and did not walk a batter. The Coyotes improve to 6-1 and move into 2nd place in the Class B North Heal Points, just behind #1 Brewer. Hermon falls to 6-2.
Smith outdueled Hawks pitcher Bre Oaks who struck out nine Old Town batters.
Olivia Westura broke open a scoreless game with a two RBI hit in the 5th inning. The Coyotes added two more runs in the 6th.
On the baseball diamond, Hermon's Alex Applebee gave up one unearned run and fired a six hitter as the Hawks beat Old town 6-1.
The Coyotes scored all six of their runs in the 3rd inning. The big hit was a two run double by River Mullen.
Nick Swift went the distance for Old Town.
The win for the Hawks make them 5-3 and moves them into the #4 spot in the Heal Points. The Coyotes are also 5-3.
