The No. 3 Southern Aroostook Warriors held off a late charge from No. 6 Central Aroostook in the first quarterfinal game of the day at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

In what was a close game for the entire second half, the Warriors outlasted the Panthers 51 to 45 in the Class D North match-up of in-county rivals.

For the Warriors, Nolan Altvater led the way with 18 points. Jackson Mathers added 11, going 9-9 from the free-throw line. Tyler Batchelder had 10.

The Warriors of Dyer Brook improve to 16-4.

The Panthers of Mars Hill end the season at 10-10.

Freshman guard Ben Thomas led Central Aroostook with 13 points including three 3-pointers. Zach Crouch had 12 points and Dustin Pryor added 10.
