Just hours after the Houston Astros won the 2017 World Series on Wednesday night, the Boston Red Sox are already making moves for the Hot Stove season.

In addition, the Sox added Marco Hernandez, Steven Wright, and Tyler Thornburg from the 60-day DL to the 40-man roster and out-righted Josh Rutledge and Robbie Ross.  Both have elected and been granted free agency.  The Sox also added Bryce Brentz and Williams Jerez to the 40-man roster as well. Boston also made official that Tony La Russa has been hired by the franchise and will be a special assistant to the President of baseball operations.

New manager Alex Cora also made a few coaching decisions on Thursday as Ron Roenick, Tom Goodwin, Carlos Febles, and Dana LeVangie were all announced to be joining the Sox.  Boston will still need to find a hitting and pitching coach for 2018.

Free agency will begin officially on November 7th to begin the Hot Stove season.
