A Red Sox bullpen that had been so good for most of the season was absolutely awful in the 8th inning Wednesday afternoon as the Kansas City came from behind to beat the Sox 6-4.

KC wins the series 2-1 and the Sox limp home from a 4-4 roadtrip.

After a good start from Drew Pomeranz, the game was turned over to reliever Matt Barnes in the 8th inning. He walked the first two batters. On came lefty Robbie Scott and he walked the next batter to load the bases. With no righthanded pitcher warming up in the Sox bullpen, Scott faced righty hitter Salvador Perez and he whacked a grand slam and that was the game.

The Sox fall to 40-32.
