Sox Settle For 2 Out Of 3

The Red Sox are on their way to the AL East division title...but one lingering issue remains clear as the playoffs draw near. Who will pitch in crucial spots in the 8th inning? It cost the Sox Thursday night as Tampa Bay won 4-3 in the final game of the series.

After getting behind early in the game, the Sox battled back and got home runs from David Ortiz and Salty to tie the game at 3-3.

Rubby De La Rosa came on to pitch with one out in the 8th and gave up doubles to Evan Longoria and Wil Myers and the Rays grabbed the lead 4-3.

The Sox could not score in the 9th and so they settle for taking 2 of the 3 games in this series.

As the Sox come back home to face the NY Yankees, they do so with an 8 1/2 game lead and having won 7 straight series. The magic number to clinich remians 8.
