Sox Ship Out Young Talent

The Red Sox have reassigned some of their young talent to the minors. The list includes pitcher Matt Barnes and Anthony Ranaudo. The moves get the Sox spring roster down to 46.

Optioned to Pawtucket were Ranaudo and fellow pitcher Alex Wilson. Infielder Garin Cecchini, outfielders Bryce Brentz and Alex Hassan.

Young players moved to the Sox minor league camp include Barnes and lefty Henry Owens, catcher Blake Swihart.

Players such as Owens and Swihart could start the year at double-A Portland.
