Make it eight straight wins for the Boston Red Sox after an 8-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The first place Sox sweep the two game series and take a day off before heading into New York with a four game lead in the AL East.

The Sox offense collected nine hits but it was Tampa Bay errors, wild pitches and passed balls that help as much as anything.

Andrew Benintendi had three hits and Eduardo Nunez had another two hits.

On the hill, Rick Porcello got the win, now 6-14, with six solid innings. He had one of those so called 'immaculate' innings in the 5th, striking out three Rays on nine pitches.

Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman and Joe Kelly combined to work three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Yankees won their game over Toronto 11-5 so Boston's lead stays four games heading into the weekend series.
