The Boston Red Sox will play an unusual Thursday afternoon series opener with the Detroit Tigers at 1:10 p.m. today as they look to keep their winning streak alive.

The Sox are red hot with a six-game winning streak, dating back to a three game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks last weekend and then three victories against the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles.

Boston had a 90 minute rain delay in its match-up with the Orioles to close out the two game set and the squad boarded the plane at 1:00 a.m. this morning after the shortened contest.  The team is currently one game behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East.  Toronto is idle Thursday.
