Bangor native Jesse Speirs and 2016 Greater Bangor Open champion Jesse Larson are two of 150 golfers competing in Florida in the final stage of the Web.com Tour Q-School.

At stake, a chance to play on the Web.com Tour in 2017.

The winner of the 72-hole tourney gets full exemption. Other finishers will get partial exemptions. The Web.com Tour is the gateway to getting on the PGA Tour.

Speirs played in 17 Web.com Tour events this year, making the cut in seven of the tournaments, including two top-25 finishes. He was 160th on the money list.

Speirs is a past champion of the Maine Junior Amateur Championship, the Maine State Amateur Championship and as a pro won the Greater Bangor Open.

He tees off in the first group of the day, Thursday morning at 8am.

Larson is a pro golfer from Vermont and has played the GBO Tournament and the Maine Open Tournament for several years.

Back in July, Larson tied the Bangor Municipal Golf Course record score, shooting a 9-under par 60 on the second round. He went on to win the 50th GBO.

Larson tees off at 9:39am Thursday morning

NOTE: Evan Harmeling, a Massachusetts pro who finished third in this year's GBO, is also in the Q-School Final Stage tournament in Florida.(9:06am tee time)
