Jimmie Johnson dominated the field and won a record eighth career race at Dover International Speedway on Sunday in NASCAR's Chase for the Championship. The victory moved Johnson from third to second in the Sprint Cup standings and put him within eight points of Chase leader Matt Kenseth.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. presented the only threat to Johnson, but he could not catch the five-time Cup champion and finished second. Joey Logano, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.

Johnson's victory broke a tie with Bobby Allison and Richard Petty for most all-time wins at the Delaware track.

The Chase resumes next Sunday in Kansas.
