In a great pitchers duel, the University of Maine softball team came up on the short end of a 2-0 score in the opening game of the America East tournament.The Black Bears and Seawolves were scoreless in the bottom of the 6th inning when Shayla Giosia came up with a 2-out rbi single and added an insurance run when a Maine error allowed the second run to score.

Erika Leonard and Janelle Bouchard each had 2 hits for the Bears in the loss while Alexis Bogdanovich dropped to 14-8 on the season after allowing 3 hits and a couple runs.

Maine will now play in the losers bracket game against either Binghamton or Albany Friday at 1:30.
