Mainers are cleaning up this morning after a storm that brought heavy rain and wind gusts up to 70 mph.

According to the BDN, the storm brought the heaviest wind to coastal areas, which also saw some flooding in low-lying areas. Over 20,000 customers lost power overnight. As of 4:00 Wednesday morning, Emera Maine was reporting that just over five thousand were still without power.

Trees have been reported partially or completely blocking roads in several communities. WABI-TV reports that, as of 4 a.m., the Nolan Road in Holden, Center Drive in Orrington, and Eastern Avenue in Brewer have trees blocking the road. Route 168 in Lee and Wynn, there is a tree blocking the road and low-hanging power lines, so no trucks are being allowed until it can be cleaned up. And Route 192 in Wesley also has a tree down in the road. We don't have information on all areas, so motorists are advised to stay alert while driving this morning and be prepared to possibly get detoured.

Property damage was also a side effect of the storm. A tree fell on a house on Simon Court in Old Town. And in Calais, huge wind gusts tore a metal roof off a business. The roofing material took down a power line, knocking out power.
