Surgery To End Hanrahan’s Season

For the second time in as many years the Red Sox have lost the services of their closer as Joel Hanrahan awaits season ending surgery.After visiting with Dr. James Andrews this week it was determined that he needs surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his forearm. The surgery is expected to take place sometime next week. To make matters worse, the possibility still remains that he'll need Tommy John surgery. That will not be determined until they get a better look inside the arm during the flexor operation.
