The UMaine women's basketball team stays on top of the America East Conference standings with a 63-51 win at Vermont Wednesday night.

The Black Bears are 3-0 in early season AE play. Hartford won last night and is the only other AE team without a loss in conference games.

Tanesha Sutton tied a career high with 23 points vs the Catamounts. Blanca Millan had 15 and Parise Rossignol added 11.

Maine put together a 16-2 run down the stretch to get the win. The Bears are now 3-0 AE and 10-6 overall.

UVM is 1-2 and 5-10.

At Cross Center, Bangor: Vermont Men 73 UMaine 49  The Catamounts spoiled the Black Bears conference home opener, outscoring Maine 35-18 in the first half. The Catamounts finished the night shooting over 50% from the field while the Bears shot just 33%.

UVM was led by Anthony Lamb and Robin Duncan with 11 each.

Maine got 16 from Sergio El Darwich.

The Black Bears drop to 0-2 and 2-15. UVM is 2-0 and 12-4.
