UMaine basketball got a career high 16 points from senior Bella Swan and the Black Bears beat UMaryland Baltimore County 65-55.

The win puts Maine at 2-0 in America East, 11-6 overall. UMBC falls to 1-2, 10-6.

The Bears fell behind early in this one, trailing by nine points just six minutes to the game at the Cross Center in Bangor. But a late first quarter run, fueled by back to back three-pointers from Sigi Koizar got Maine going.

UM had three other players in double digit scoring, Koizar (11), Lauren Bodine (12) and Liz Wood (10 & 15 rebounds).

In Baltimore, Maryland the UMaine men's team fell to 0-2 in America East play despite a career high 18 points from guard Troy Reid-Knight.

The Black Bears shot a solid 49% from the field but the Retrievers shot 58%. UMBC was led by Jairus Lyles with 27 points.

Maine is 0-2 AE, 4-11 overall.
