UMaine junior Cedric Lacroix scored a shorthanded goal with five minutes left in the third period to  give the Black Bears a 3-2 win at UMass Friday night.

The victory gets the Bears back over .500 in Hockey East with another game to play against the Minutemen tonight.

Eduards Tralmaks scored Maine's first goal of the night early in the game. UMass came back to score the next two. A Rob Michel goal got the Bears back in a 2-2 tie late in the 2nd period.

Freshman goalie Jeremy Swayman stopped 28 shots. Minutemen goalie Matt Murray made 21.

The Black Bears go to 7-6-3 in HE (13-9-4 overall). UMass is 5-9-1 and 11-13-1.
