On June 25, 2015 MDI High School basketball star Sierra Tapley of Bar Harbor committed to attend the University of Maine, and play for the Black Bears and Coach Richard Barron beginning in September 2016.. She was the 2015 Big East Girl's Player of the Year. According to Tapley, she will receive a full scholarship.
