Tar Heels Beat UMaine At The Buzzer [VIDEO]

A New Year's Eve nightmare finish for the UMaine women's basketball team. The Bears had North Carolina on the ropes until a buzzer beater three-pointer gave the Tar Heels a 59-58 win.

With 2.1 seconds left and Maine leading 58-56, Tar Heel freshman Stephanie Watts threw the ball in from the baseline to the post. She went to the corner, got the ball back and drained a three-pointer at the buzzer for the win.

Maine's Sigi Koizar had scored the last seven points for the Black Bears to give them a lead. Koizar finished with 21 points.

Maine finishes its non-conference schedule at 9-6. North Carolina is now 10-5.

Brandeis  60   Husson  52 :  The Husson women's basketballl team lost on New Year's Eve at Brandeis. That stops a five game winning streak. The Eagles are now 5-2. Victoria McIntrye led Husson with 17 points.
