The Orono girls did something no other team has done for 5 years and that is beat Waterville to take the Class B state indoor track championship.At Bates College Saturday the Red Riots took home the hardware while the York Wildcats claimed the boys title.

Orono's Tia Tardy spearheaded the Red Riots win by winning three events. Tardy won the mile in 5:10:46, the 2-mile in 11:30:72, and the 800 in 2:23:24.

Lauren Stoops also had a big day for Orono by winning the hurdles, the 200 and finished second in the 55 meter dash.

The Red Riots garnered 87 points in the meet while Greely (65), York (50), Yarmouth (36) and Old Town (24.5) rounded out the top five.

York claimed the boys title by racking up 56 points. The rest of the top 5 included Foxcroft Academy (44), MDI (38), Old Town (34) and Traip Academy (30).
