John Hassett and Tia Tardy both took the individual honors at the PVC Cross Country meet at Old Town High School on Saturday afternoon.

Hassett broke the previous course record with a time of 16:26.20 overall to lead the way in the event.  After the race, Hassett said that he was happy with the result on Saturday after struggling his prior time out at the Belfast course when he was dealing with an illness.  The George Stevens Academy senior said that he plans to finish the racing season strong and hopes to join the UMaine team for his college career.

Tardy took home to the crown for the girls’ event with a time of 18:59 overall as she was competing for Mount Desert Island High School.  Tardy credited her familiarity with the course as one of the keys to her success in this difficult to maneuver events.

Caribou and Orono took home the title in Class C and D respectively for the boy's meet, while MDI and Orono won the team girl's event.
