The Red Sox have been shut out 11 times this year. John Lackey has been the Sox starter that day 6 times. Sunday it was a 3 - 0 loss to the Detroit Tigers in a game that sure felt like a September playoff push game.

Lackey and Doug Fister were locked in a scoreless game until the Tigers scored twice in the seventh inning added one more later.

The Sox stranded runners all day, including five runners left at third base.

So the Sox are 82-57 and the Tigers are 81-57. Two more games to go at Fenway in this September battle.
