Runners gathered in Millinocket on this cold December Saturday for the second Millinocket Marathon & Half. The event is the brainchild of Gary Allen, who hails from Cranberry Island, but wanted to do something to help the economically challenged Millinocket area.

Over 500 runners braved the frigid temperatures and Ryan Collins from Portland had the best time (2:45:57). 107 runners finished the marathon event.

Rico Portalatin from Milo won the half marathon with a time of 1:27:06.

The start/finish line gave runners a little taste of Millinocket - two loaded logging trucks.

And, by all accounts, runners and others in town for the race spent lots of money will in town. The race itself was free.
