Mattanawcook Academy's Logan Thompson and Old Town's Chris Kauppila were the top scorers at the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) Golf Championship Thursday afternoon at Jato Highlands in Lincoln.

Thompson fired an even par 72 and led his Lynx team to one of three Class C team spots at the state tournament next Saturday. Houlton and George Stevens Academy were the other teams qualifying for the states.

Logan Thompson will also get to defend his 3-time Individual Golf Championship on October 14th. No schoolboy player has won four individual titles.

Chris Kauppila from Old Town HS took PVC Class B top honors with a score of 77. Coyotes and the MDI Trojans earned the two team spots for the upcoming state championship.

Two girls qualfied for the Individual Girls Golf Championship on October 14th. McKenzie Plourde from PVHS shot a 94 and Libby Boone from Caribou-Presque Isle shot a 99.
