The NHL has come down hard on Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton. handing him a 15-game suspension for that attack on Pittsburgh's Brooks Orpik. It is the longest regular season suspension ever handed out by NHL chief of discipline Brendan Shanahan.

Thornton has already been out for three games and now will sit out until January 11th. He will forfeit about $84,000 in salary.
