The NHL has come down hard on Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton. handing him a 15-game suspension for that attack on Pittsburgh's Brooks Orpik. It is the longest regular season suspension ever handed out by NHL chief of discipline Brendan Shanahan.

Thornton has already been out for three games and now will sit out until January 11th. He will forfeit about $84,000 in salary.

The Bruins are in Vancouver tonight at 9:30PM and you can hear live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
