Orono’s Stoops Selected for McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Week [WEEK 9]
We'd like to congratulate Orono High School's Lauren Stoops for being voted this week's McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week.
Stoops. a junior, won three events in the PVC Indoor Track Championships taking the title in the 55 meter hurdles (8.77), 55 meter dash (7.47) and the 200 meter dash (27.02)
She received more than 90 percent of the vote in our online poll, the results of which are below:
In securing the honor, she bested two other outstanding performances from our other nominees: Tia Tardy of Mattanawcook Academy, who all three of her events including the 1 mile (5:23.00), 800 meter run (2:23.48) and the 2 mile in 11:57.02 at the PVC Indoor Track Championships, and Leila Johnston of MDI High School, who helped the Trojans win the PVC Championship by finishing first in three events.
