Three local student-athletes have received nominations for the latest McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week award.

The nominees are Ben Powell of Searsport, Brody Guiggey of Katahdin High School and Jordan Goodrich of Brewer.

Ben Powell of Searsport pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts as the Vikings defeated Sumner Memorial High School 5-2 on May 14. He pitched a complete-game in Searsport's 7-2 win over Bucksport on May 18, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts. He helped his own cause against the Golden Bucks with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Brody Guiggey of Katahdin High School homered in his team's win over Madawaska on May 18. He also was the winning pitcher in the 19-7 triumph. Against Southern Aroostook on May 14, Guiggey homered, tripled and drove in five runs.

Brewer’s Jordan Goodrich singled twice and knocked in a run as the Witches shutout Ellsworth 5-0 on May 17. She racked up four singles and scored three times on May 19, when Brewer picked up a 9-5 win over MCI to remain unbeaten at 12-0.
