Three Wins From Williamsport

The state of Maine Little League champion South Portland team scored another win at the New England Regional, a 3-2 victory over Rhode Island.

That makes the South Portland All Stars 2-1 and still alive in the quest to go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

After spotting Rhode Island two runs in the first inning, the Maine team tied the game in the 3rd inning and then Nathan Hobbs scored the game winner on a wild pitch in the 5th. Hobbs had three hits to lead Maine.

Now South Portland faces Vermont on Thursday.

The Maine must win that game and then win games on Friday and Saturday to win the New England title.
