Former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up a save for Philly in a 3-1 win at Fenway last night. It was the first appearance for Paps at Fenway since he signed with the Phils as a free agent two years ago.

The big story of the night was lefty Cliff Lee - eight innings of four-hit, 1-run pitching. His effort over shadowed Ryan Dempster of the Sox. Dempster gave up just two runs in seven innings in his best start in a month.

The Sox and Phillies continue the series tonight and Thursday night with the inter-league scene shifting to the Phillies ballpark.
