Many of the top amateur golfers take aim for the 49th Bunyan Golf Tournament. That includes last year's co-champions Casey Catell and JJ Harris.

Catell and Harris tied last year because the second round got washed out by rain. Both golfers shot even par the first day.

Ricky Jones is in the field as a four time champion. Only Mark Plummer has won more Bunyan titles.

Sam Grindle from Deer-Isle Stonington is also in the field. He won a high school state championship last fall.

A/B flight players(lowest handicaps) play Saturday at Kebo in Bar Harbor and Sunday at Penoby in Orono. C/D flight players play PVCC first, then Kebo.

Sportsradio 92.9TheTicket will provide scoreboard updates over the weekend.

The Bunyan Tournament marks the beginning of a busy golf tourney season, including the Maine State Amateur Championship at Augusta CC in July and the Greater Bangor Open pro event at Bangor Muni.
