The Red Sox lost an 8-6 grinder to the Toronto Blue Jays on the last day of a grinding homestand. Now it's time for the Sox to head west for their final long roadtrip of the season.

The Sox grabbed an early lead in Thursday's game but the Jays took advantage of a missed popup catch by Brock Holt and Justin Smoak hit two home runs to help Toronto grab a 7-3 lead after six innings.

Dustin Pedroia brought the Sox back with a 7th inning 3-run homer to make it a one run game. But, they could never get closer.

Doug Fister was charged with six runs in 4.1 innings and took the loss. He gave up seven hits and walked four.

Pedroia had three hits and three RBI. Mookie Betts had two hits and two RBI.

Boston drops to 54-43 and play in Anaheim tonight. Tampa Bay was off on Thursday. The Yankees beat Seattle 4-1.
