John Bapst track and field athlete Ben Cotton has been named McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week.

Cotton was named Co-Outstanding Performer at the PVC-Eastern Maine Indoor Track League Championships last weekend at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House. Cotton placed first in the 55 meters (6.65), the 400 (53.04) and the long jump (21-6 1/2).

Zach Beaton of Hermon, one of four McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week nominees, shared Outstanding Performer honors with Cotton at the PVC-EMITL Championships.

Other nominees included Ava Sealander, a senior swimmer at George Stevens Academy, and Hampden Academy track and field athlete Helen Shearer.
