A tractor trailer accident forced State Police to close down one lane of the northbound side of I-95 for much of the afternoon. The semi was tangled in the guardrail, making removal challenging. Police now say the wreck will stay overnight, delaying traffic tonight and into the morning commute.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the accident happened near the Bond Brook Bridge, at mile 111 in Augusta. That was the site of another tractor trailer wreck a week ago. The truck involved in this afternoon's accident is a trash truck from Trioiano Waste Services.

In an update Tuesday evening, McCausland said the semi will stay there overnight and will be cleared Wednesday morning. In the meantime, northbound traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane, slowing traffic overnight and during the morning commute. Motorists Wednesday morning should expect delays between exits 109 and 112. Those backups can be avoided by detouring onto the Western Avenue exit and finding alternate routes through Augusta.
