The historic baseball season for former UMaine coach Steve Trimper and his Stetson Hatters ended this weekend with a 7-5 loss to North Carolina in the NCAA Super Regional.

The Tar Heels move on to the College World Series. The Hatters season ends with a record of 48-13.

UNC took the best-of-three series 2-0. The Tar Heels beat Stetson 7-5 on Saturday afternoon.

For Trimper and his Stetson program, they will have to settle for tying the school record for wins and the history of being the school's first team to make it to the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

The Hatters are likely to have to replace seven players who were selected in last week's MLB draft.
