U.S. Eliminated From World Cup

Despite a record breaking performance by goalie Tim Howard, the United States was eliminated from World Cup play after losing to Belgium 2-1 in the knockout round.The game remained scoreless after regulation sending the teams to extra time. Three minutes in, Belgium scored the first goal of the game and later added what seemed to be the back breaker. With 12 minutes left U.S. substitute Julian Green got the U.S. within a goal but couldn't get any closer.

Howard finished with 16 saves, the most in World Cup history.

Belgium will now face Argentina in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
