The UMaine softball knew it had to take down UAlbany twice in order to capture the Anerica East Conference title. The Black Bears won the first game, 2-0, but came up short in game two, 6-1.

The Great Danes win the automatic bid to a NCAA Regional.

In the winner-take-all second game, the score was tied 1-1 when rain, thunder and lightning forced a delay.

Albany's Chelsea Henige ripped a 3-run home run in the 3rd inning and it turned out to be enough.

Both teams collected nine hits but UMaine left 10 runners on base.

So the Great Danes enter the NCAAs with 27-16 record.

Maine finishes 19-25.
