Mike Connolly and Mike Fransoso were playing college baseball at UMaine in the spring, drafted by the pros in June and now both are involved in post-season action with their minor league teams.

Connolly was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 27th round of the MLB amateur draft in June. He elected to forego his senior year and turned pro. He's currently with SF's Northwest League team, the Salem-Kaizer Volcanoes. As that team's playoffs begin, Connolly has pitched in 9 1/3 innings with a 10.61 ERA.

Fransoso was drafted in the 27th round be the PIttsburgh PIrates. He gave up his senior year in college to sign pro as well. Fransoso is playing in the New York-Penn League and a team called the Jamestown Jammers.That team is new playoff action this week too. In 67 regular season games at shortstop, Fransoso hit .253 with 2 HR and 25 RBI.
