The University of Maine field hockey team was selected second in the East Division of the America East conference in Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Black Bears received 13 overall votes, including a first place tally.  UAlbany was selected to finish first with 16 votes and the remaining four first place selections.  Stanford was the top team in the West Division with nine total points.

UMaine made it to the conference championship a year ago after posting a 7-1 conference record.  The team also finished the year at 17th overall in the Top-25 NCAA Poll.  The Black Bears also return three of their top scorers from a year ago in Libby Riedl, Sydney Veljacic, and Danielle Aviani.

The season will get underway for the Black Bears on August 26th as the team hosts Providence College on campus.
